Organic Search vs. Paid Search
So what is organic search and how does it differ from paid search?
There are two ways for results to appear in major search engines: Paid search
(or
Pay-Per-Click advertising) and
organic or natural search.
Search engine spiders
index pages and return data. The data is calculated by algorithms to determine how
the results are displayed – the more relevant to a search term, the better the page
indexes. On the contrary, paid search results are those that appear based on fees
paid by advertisers. They are often listed at the very top of the results page and
along the right hand column. The higher the bid for cost-per-click (CPC), the
higher the ad will rank – as long as it is still relevant to the search term. An
advertiser pays only when a prospect clicks on their ad. Less relevant ads show,
but are displayed in much lower positions.
A website optimized for search engines
is the surest way to achieve higher organic rankings.
Our systematic approach to search engine optimization is designed so that search engines
perceive you as the strongest source on the web, based on relevancy to a particular search term.
Unfortunately, you don’t see overnight results with organic search optimization, as it does
take time for search engine spiders to index the pages – often at least six months.
However, once you achieve high placement in organic rankings, you have some of the most
competitive and valuable real estate on the web.
The upside of PPC is that you can immediately place your website in front of potential customers. There is
a synergy between paid and organic search, one that provides momentum for better results.
We strongly suggest you consider both. Learn how NetSearch Partners can manage your
Pay-Per-Click campaigns
while optimizing your website, to immediately shift qualified traffic your way.
